Water is the foundation of all your body’s processes: digestion, detoxification, nutrient absorption, lymph flow, and cellular repair. These are all crucial to healing for overcoming illness and pain.

It’s important that you drink enough water, but it’s equally important that your water is pure with the minerals you need to promote efficient flow of these processes. This is especially true when you’re using supplements and herbs – pure water dramatically improves how well your body can use them. At my last training with Standard Process, we discussed how water quality can create an issue around pulling toxins out of water rather than focusing on delivering the supplement to your body.

Not only will impurities in water slow down your healing process, but they can further affect your digestion, immune system, and inflammation levels. Your body will pull energy away from healing if it has to process contaminants like heavy metals and chemical byproducts. If you’re on a journey to heal, you need to fuel your body in a way that allows your systems to focus on repair.

If you’re experiencing any of the following, your water might be slowing your healing:

In traditional Chinese medicine, clean water supports the Qi (chee), or energy flow, in your spleen and stomach. This provides better absorption of your supplements and herbs. Better hydration improves your liver Qi, leading to better detoxification and healing. Chemicals create internal “dampness,” which strains digestion and distracts your liver.

If you’re dealing with a health concern, chronic condition, perimenopause shift, or stress-related imbalance, you need to pay special attention to where your water comes from. This small change can make a massive difference in how quickly your condition improves. You’re working hard to heal, don’t let your water source undermine your progress.

Denver, Colorado

What’s in the Denver Metro Tap Water?

While Denver tap water meets federal and state standards for regulated contaminants, it doesn’t mean that it is free of impurities and chemicals.

Treated water uses chemicals to remove contaminants but leaves chemical byproducts behind. These byproducts, including bromodichloromethane and chloroform, are hard on your system and pull your body’s resources away from healing.

Independent groups, including the Environmental Working Group, have run independent reports that found Denver tap water contains contaminants above their standards. These include chemical byproducts, chloroform, and other toxic particles. Older neighborhoods face further issues from old pipes that may contain lead or other metal residue.

While tap water is considered safe, it isn’t ideal when you’re trying to overcome a health condition.

The Secret Behind Filtered Water

Drinking filtered water might improve the presence of contaminants in your water… if you’re using it correctly.

Filters remove contaminants like chlorine and heavy metals, and higher quality filters can remove disinfection byproducts. However, if you’re not regularly replacing your filter, you might be introducing new contaminants. This means if you’re not changing your filter as often as needed, your “clean water” may be more contaminated than tap water.

Filters are a breeding ground for mold. If you’re not regularly replacing your filter or using the water source, you run the risk of contaminating your drinking water.

Filters degrade over time, and most stop working before people get around to replacing them. Now, it’s likely to contaminate your water with mold without removing any of the unwanted chemicals.

If you’re working on overcoming a health problem, filtered water might not be enough to yield the results you want. Especially if you’re not replacing the filter often.

How Natural Spring Water Helps Your Healing Process

Natural spring water comes from underground water sources that are naturally sealed off from surface pollution. Layers of clay and sediment purify the water through natural filtration, ensuring that it’s clean and uncontaminated. This method provides clean water without adding more chemicals.

It also possesses naturally occurring minerals that support your healing process. They balance your electrolytes, provide more hydration, and regulate many systems in your body. Not only are you avoiding contaminants, but you’re providing important fuel for healing.

When you’re taking supplements and herbs to promote healing, these are crucial to maximizing their effectiveness. The minerals stabilize your stomach pH and improve nutrient transport so that your herbal medicine products can absorb properly and reach the areas of your body that need them.

With less contaminants, your body can focus less on detoxification and more on processing your supplements. Chemical byproducts that treat other water sources can damage these compounds, making them less useful.

Natural spring water also tastes better, which usually leads people to drink more water. Increased hydration alone will speed up your body’s healing process.

Eldorado Springs, Colorado

How to Promote Better Healing

Replacing tap and filtered water is one of the easiest things you can do to maximize your supplements, herbs, and acupuncture treatments. Eldorado Springs is a natural spring water brand near Boulder with a unique water supply that provides what is largely considered the best tasting water in North America.

Their spring water originates as rain and snow just east of the Continental Divide. Then, it enters an aquifer that passes 8,000 feet deep below the springs. Their water analysis yields results dramatically below the legal threshold and contains minerals that your body needs to thrive. Patients who use natural spring water with their supplements usually notice an improvement within a week.

Supplements and herbal medicine

I chose Eldorado Springs for my drinking water a long time ago. I discussed Berkey filters and whole house filters, but didn't feel clear that they were the best choice for my health. Because I've struggled with chronic fatigue syndrome for years, the need for clean water applies heavily to me. My family agrees that the water tastes great, and we go through 6 bottles a month. Their delivery is easy and timely, but it's also available at Natural Grocers if you want to purchase without a subscription.

Eldorado Springs has offered a free month of water to Good Needles Patients, so you can get started accelerating your healing journey. This includes your choice of (4) three or five gallon bottles to accelerate every treatment you receive. If you’re interested, please let me know at your next appointment.

Recovering from hard-to-treat conditions is difficult work, and you need a knowledgeable and empathetic partner who can determine the root of your problems and correct them naturally for true healing.
